Call to Order: – Meeting was called to order by Co-Chairperson Ngozi Mensah at 4:10 p.m.

Roll Call: – As listed above.

Approval of Minutes: – A motion was made by Beth Johnston, seconded by Daisy Fulton to approve the minutes of the December 2nd meeting.  All voted aye.

Financial Report: - A motion was made by Peggy Murphy, seconded by William Wilsher to approve the financial report.  All voted aye.

 

Moshi Committee: -

Mr. Mensah reported the Tanzania Committee will be meeting on 02/07/05 at 4:30 p.m. at the Delray Beach Public Library.  He indicated the women in arts approved auction of their artwork, but would like to receive part of the proceeds back for the artists in Moshi.  He indicated that Tanzania no longer celebrates Saba Saba, they celebrate August 8th (Nani Nani). This item will be tabled until further information is received about August 8th.  The Committee is still eligible to receive the ICMA grant.  He indicated he will be meeting with Kjell Bergh on organizing the tourist program.  He also indicated that the Safari Dinner is scheduled for April 9, 2005 at the Delray Beach Municipal Golf Club and save the date cards are at the printers.

 

Miyazu Committee: -

Ms. Nancy King reported the students are meeting on a weekly basis with Tony Durante to learn more about the Japanese culture. 

 

Mr. Bill Wilsher indicated the Hatsume’ is scheduled for February 26-27, 2005 at Morikami Museum and he is requesting volunteers to assist with sales. 

 

Mr. Robert Barcinski indicated the Art & Jazz on the Avenue special event will no longer have sale of alcohol for non-profits due to Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearm (ATF) rules and regulations.

 

Special Committee Reports: -

Young Artist Contest – No report.

President’s Report – No report.

Non-Agenda Items – Mr. Barcinski reported he received a call from Scott and Diane Hanson requesting to have a Sister Cities relationship with Canada.  It was the Board’s consensus not to take on a new sister cities at this time due to other obligations.  Ms. Daisy Fulton reported that EPOCH is celebrating Black History Month and invited Ngozi Mensah to speak at their opening exhibit “Influence African Culture” on 02/21/05 at 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. and she also invited the Board members to attend.
