The 3rd annual Sister Cities Twilight Safari Dinner  was recently held at the Delray Beach Golf Club and it was a huge success! The event, which combined exotic foods, music, African fashions, a silent auction and the sights and sounds of Africa had over 150 people in attendance and raised over $ 6,400. Once again, the funds will go directly to the Baobab Books to Kilimanjaro Project.

Commissioner Pat Archer and Rhonda Mensah worked tirelessly as the co-chairpersons at this successful event. The Honorable Consul of the United Republic of Tanzania, Dr. Dallas Browne made special remarks and it was a memorable evening for all.

The Moshi Tanzania Sub-Committee, chaired by Ngozi Mensah, made their primary project for 2004, raising money to purchase additional new books for the Moshi library through the Baobab Books to Kilimanjaro Project. The Moshi head librarian and the staff of the Delray Beach Public Library will identify a whole range of books, reference materials, children’s books and software. They will be ordered and shipped to Moshi using the funds from the Twilight Safari Dinner. In addition, dinner attendees donated $20 per book to send greetings to the Library in Moshi. Over $1,200 was raised as a result of this additional effort.
