ITINERARY FOR GUESTS FROM MOSHI & MIYAZU and AGENDA FOR FLORIDA SISTER CITIES STATE CONFERENCE (PROPOSED TENATIVE SCHEDULE)
IMPORTANT
NOTE:
With the interest and intent to make the visit of our guest as pleasant and beneficial as possible throughout their entire stay with us, some of the specific details of this proposed schedule will need to be modified once DBSC is given the exact schedule of arrival (date, time, flight #, airport) of our guests, the number of guests, name and gender of each guest and the business/professional/government position which each represents.
THIS PROPOSED SCHEDULE IS BASED ON THE FOLLOWING POSSIBLE ARRIVAL & LEAVE DATES:
-GUESTS FROM MOSHI-- MONDAY,
4/22/02 (no specific time is known yet) AND A LEAVE DATE (possibly) MONDAY,
4/29/02.
-GUEST FROM MIYAZU--THURSDAY, 4/25

-ALL LEAVE TUESDAY MORNING (4/30).
Monday, 4/22 (Moshi Guests)
-DBSC representative to meet
guests at airport & take them to their selected Delray Beach accommodations.
n'Gurumo to coordinate their transportation & schedule throughout their
stay.
-Welcome reception (short &
informal since guest will be tired from long trip)
Tuesday, 4/23 (Moshi Guests)
-Free time to relax (Rosalind
Murray offered to contact owner of Boston's
about providing a “complimentary” breakfast for our guests)
-11:30am Rotary Club regular meeting and luncheon
-1:00pm Visit City facilities:
City Hall (see 5 minute video of overview of City), Tour of Police Department,
Fire Department, Water Treatment Plant, drive tour of neighborhoods depicting
neighborhood/housing redevelopment–(will try to get Lula Butler to
accompany part of tour)
-5:00pm Relax, Refresh
-6:00pm Dinner at the home of
Ngozi & Rhonda Mensah. (Private by
invite only)
Wednesday, 4/24 (Moshi

-7:30am Kiwanis Club regular meeting and breakfast
-Tour Delray Beach Public Library
-Visit Chamber of Commerce

Cookout at Wright By The Sea at the
gazebo on the beach. (Boy Scouts have asked for the honor of cooking for the cookout.
We buy the food and stuff. This evening would be our welcome reception for the
Mayor of Miyazu and an introduction of the Mayors of both of our sister cities
to each other. Our Mayor could be the host for the evening. This event would be
for all DBSC Board and Committee members, City Commissioners, City manager and
staff who have in some way been involved with Sister Cities, the delegation who
went to Moshi last year, the three ladies who just climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro, the
exchange students, other recommended names who have been involved with Sister
Cities.

History Tour of Delray Beach. Plans are for this tour to be conducted by the
Delray Beach Historical Society and EPOCH. This tour will be done for the benefit
of our guests from Moshi, Tanzania and Miyazu, Japan and will also be offered to
the delegates who have arrived by now for the Sister Cities State convention.
-3:30 to 5:00pm Stroll, shop, Downtown
Delray. RELAX, REFRESH
-5:00pm
Convention Reception at Old School Square
(This reception will be hosted by the DBSC Youth group and will feature the
Young Artists Exhibit which includes art work of Moshi & Miyazu students;
tour of Old School Square (see statue
gift from Miyazu to Delray Beach); exchange students who went to Miyazu will
give a brief PowerPoint™ presentation about their trip; Atlantic High
School Jazz Band performance at the Entertainment
Pavilion; Food (trying to get Japanese, African and American food).
-8:00pm until ??? Ride the trolley
back to the hotel or stroll the Avenue (plenty of dinner sites along the Avenue
if more food is desired after hearty reception meal)
SATURDAY 4/27 (Florida
Sister Cities Annual State Convention agenda)
-NOTE: 7:30am for Moshi &
Miyazu only DBSC will arrange for breakfast.
Convention registrants are on
their own for breakfast.

reception and signing in honor of 25 years of friendship and renewal of commitment
by Delray Beach and Miyazu Mayors.
Signing of special pledge of commitment
to new friendship by Mayors of Delray Beach and Moshi. Stage entertainment
performance by TBA (trying to get Japanese
dance/song, African dance/song and American patriotic songs)
-NOTE: Breakfast for Moshi &
Miyazu will be arranged by DBSC
9:00 to 11:30am Florida Sister
Cities State Convention meeting to elect officers; receive annual reports and
conduct association’s official business.
For our Moshi & Miyazu guests,
the Sunday agenda for the State Convention may not be very meaningful to them;
therefore, the following activities are available and a choice of these could be
coordinated into their itinerary and could be done with guests choosing separate
things instead of all together for the same things:

-Arthur R. Marshall Loxahatchee
National Wildlife Refuge (Boynton Beach)
